Xi Zhengping, chairman of the board of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), led a team to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia to visit and extend solicitude to employees of the funding enterprises in South-Central Africa from September 18th to 28th, 2023.
“During this visit, he inspired them to practice the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), help promote the friendship between China and Africa, and make new and greater contributions to building CNMC into a world-class enterprise,” a statement released said.
CNMC, founded in 1983, is one of the earliest enterprises in China’s nonferrous metal industry to implement the strategy of ‘Going Global’.
“Throughout its 40-year-development, CNMC has been struggling continuously with ‘a tenacity, a force and a spirit’, and has built a whole industry chain mode of resource development mainly based on copper abroad. It has achieved the pioneering, talent, and brand advantages and driving strength of “Going Global”, and has grown into a large-scale enterprise with over RMB 100 billion in total assets and nearly RMB 10 billion in its annual profit,” the statement read.
The statement said that while actively promoting economic development, CNMC-funding enterprises in Zambia and DRC pursue the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and uphold the values of greater good and shared interests to actively fulfill their social responsibilities.
They also invest special funds, improving the conditions of education, employment, infrastructure, ecological environment, health care, etc. in surrounding areas, thereby greatly deepening the China-Africa friendship.
During the research period in South Central Africa, Mr. Xi Zhengping, chairman of the board, conducted research work in 10 CNMC-funding enterprises in Africa and Sino-Zambia Vocational College of Science and Technology, Sino-Zambia Friendship Hospital, Laboratory Zambia.
These enterprises include China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Limited, Congo Mining Limited, Kambove Mining SAS, Somidez, Lualaba Copper Smelter Limited, CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines PLC., Chambishi Copper Smelter Limited, Sino-Metals Leach Zambia Limited, NFC Africa Mining PLC., and Zambia China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Development Limited.
Mr Zhengping pointed out that all overseas employees should study and understand the profound connotation of the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s three important instructions to the Group, so as to accurately grasp the positioning of ‘Going Global’ and ‘Dual Circulation’, and continue to inherit the spirit of ‘Dare to be First’.
They should also strengthen the “science and technology empowerment”, and seek benefits from science and technology and management, so as to make new and greater contributions to the accelerated construction of CNMC as a world-class enterprise.
On September 26th, while doing research in Zambia’s funded enterprises, Mr. Xi Zhengping, chairman of the board, and his delegation, were paying a visit to Zambian President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, invited by Zambian government and accompanied by Du Xiaohui, Chinese ambassador to Zambia.
The two parties had deep, warm and fruitful talks
