SOME patients in Ngabwe, Central Province, who were booked for eye surgery have shunned the medical appointment for fear of being on bed rest for two weeks at the expense of undertaking farming activities.
Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) has been conducting free eye and dental screening services, including surgeries, in Ngabwe to promote eye and oral health.
The team was at Mukubwe Rural Health Centre, where they found 12 people with cataracts and other eye conditions.
They later proceeded to explain the conditions and surgical procedure before they booked the patients, who all consented to the surgery.
But after learning that they would need to rest for two weeks before undertaking hard work like farming, the patients started retreating one by one..https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
