BUSINESS and trade experts have said networks of counterfeit trade have continued to undermine creativity, innovation, competitiveness and investment in the research and development of new products and ideas in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region.
Speaking in Lusaka during the launch of a regional study report on illicit trade by the COMESA Business Council, Teddy Soobramanien, who is the council chief executive officer, said illicit trade is a global menace that seriously affects both the public and private sectors within the COMESA region and other parts of the world.
Mr Soobramanien said it is no secret that illicit trade negatively affects both the public and private sectors within the COMESA region and beyond.
