BREAKING gender stereotypes in the engineering field as the first female cable jointer and overhead lines woman at Zesco, Misozi Banda, stands as a symbol of resilience and determination.
At 49, Ms Banda serves as the head of the overhead lines department at Zesco Training Centre, Zambia’s power utility.
Ms Banda has transitioned from being a resident of a remote village in Lundazi district to becoming the first woman to teach technical subjects at Zesco Training Centre, and being a mentor to future female engineers.
“I am the first woman to teach technical subjects such as overhead lines and cable jointing at the training centre,” she said.
Born in 1974, in Lundazi district, her journey began at Chikomeni Basic School in 1982.
