Kasama
KASAMA, the capital of Northern Province, is 850 kilometres north of the capital, Lusaka.
Now, those are not few kilometres to grant peace to any road traveller, especially one who, like me, has fair knowledge of that potholed toe-to-ear stretch from Serenje to Mpika, and another similar length between Mpika and Kasama.
So you spend part of the night before a journey to Kasama ‘cursing’ Road Development Agency (RDA) for letting a road, a trunk one for that matter, to acutely erode while they watch.
As dawn falls on Saturday November 11, 2023, an employee of RDA comes to pick me up from home in Lusaka.
The day is certainly an infant as the time I’m being picked up is about 05:40 hours.
