Africa committed despite limited resources – Nzovu

VIOLET MENGO
Dubai, UAE
AFRICA will not accept anything lower than the global goal on adaptation (GGA) framework against the global phenomenon, Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu has said.
GGA is a collective commitment under Article 7.1 of the Paris Agreement aimed at “enhancing [the world’s] adaptive capacity, strengthening resilience and reducing vulnerability to climate change”.
Proposed by the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) in 2013 and established in 2015, GGA is meant to serve as a unifying framework that can drive political action and finance for adaptation on the same scale as mitigation.
Mr Nzovu said despite limited budgets and increasing burden of debt, African governments have committed significant domestic resources on adaptation.
He said adequate and predictable international public finance can close the widening gap, hence the continent advocating the realisation of the GGA framework as it is the cornerstone for implementation.https://www.daily-mail.co.zm/wp-admin/post-new.php
