THE Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is worried about the increase in the number of business cartels that are controlling commodity pricing to the detriment of customers.
According to the commission, there is also a sharp increase in the number of micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) actively participating in cartel formations, resulting in unfair trade in the sector.
CCPC executive director Brian Lingela cited those allegedly actively participating in forming cartels as Kabwata Hair Association and Kasumbalesa Fruit and Vegetable Traders Association.
Mr Lingela said in an interview that cartels are distractive because they encourage the fixing of detrimental conditions and prices with intent to steal from people.. https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
