Seized properties in gold scam in line with precedent

THE State has submitted that the seizure and planned forfeiture of a jet, firearms and dollars in the thwarted gold scam is in line with the precedent which seeks to prevent people from joining criminals who wish to enjoy illegally earned wealth.
The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) further submits on behalf of the State that it would, therefore, be a grave injustice to give back the seized properties to the interested parties.
This is in a case the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has filed a notice of motion seeking to forfeit the plane to the State after it was seized at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in August last year.
