ABOUT 1,800 new jobs will be created at Kansanshi Mine by June this year following the investment of US$1.3 billion for its expansion project.
Kansanshi Mining Plc general manager Anthony Mukutuma says construction of the S3 plant is expected to be finished by May next year and production will start by second quarter of 2025.
So far, 750 people have been employed at the plant under construction.
He said this when a team of councillors from Solwezi Municipal Council visited the mining firm to appreciate the work being done on the expansion project.
“So currently we process about 28 to 29 million tonnes of material per year, but with this expansion, we are going to add another 25 million tonnes per year, bringing the total tonnage to about 55 million tonnes of material that will process through this plant,” Mr Mukutuma said…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
