State to work with private sector to promote sports tourism

GOVERNMENT wants to work closely with the private sector in promoting sports tourism in the country.
Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba said the private sector such as betting and gaming companies like Betway have digital platforms that can be utilised to promote sports tourism.
Sikumba was speaking yesterday in a speech read on his behalf by Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga during the opening of the Betway customer experience centre at Lewanika Shopping Mall in Lusaka.
“We recognise the profound significance of the gaming and betting industry in shaping the landscape of our country’s tourism sector,” he said.
“The industry continues to enrich the entertainment landscape for our international visitors while amplifying Zambia’s visibility as a premier tourism destination on the global stage.”..
