PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has challenged police officers to introspect and reflect on their willingness to change in the face of allegations concerning certain vices that tarnish their noble profession like corruption.
In a message to commemorate Police Day yesterday, the President urged officers to serve citizens with diligence and compassion and to always be guided by the principles of law.
“Today [yesterday], we commemorate Police Day in solidarity with the men and women of the Zambia Police Service, who tirelessly serve our country in preserving peace and maintaining law and order,” he said.
“However, today is also a day for introspection. Let us consider whether we have responded positively and are willing to change in the face of allegations concerning certain vices that tarnish this noble profession, such as corruption and other unlawful conduct within our ranks.”
