ABSA Bank Zambia Plc yesterday unveiled a K5.5 million expanded version of the Absa Cup, which will see 10 provincial Division One teams making a debut this weekend.
Last season, Absa Bank pumped in K4.4 million in the event that attracted two National Division One teams and six from the Super League.
This year’s competition will have 21 teams – seven from the Super League, four from National Division One and 10 provincial sides.
Record winners Zesco United, Red Arrows, Power Dynamos, Nkwazi, Kabwe Warriors, Maestro United Zambia (MUZA) and Green Eagles are the topflight teams, while Nchanga Rangers, Lumwana Radiants, Atletico Lusaka and Indeni will be National Division One envoys.
