THE Court of Appeal has refused to halt proceedings in a case Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) wants 15 flats belonging to former first lady Esther Lungu forfeited to the State.
The appeals court dismissed Mrs Lungu’s renewed application to stay forfeiture proceedings before Economic and Financial Crimes Court (EFCC) because she did not demonstrate exceptional circumstances for the court to grant her request.
The former first lady wanted the Court of Appeal to halt proceedings before EFCC, where the DPP wants to have her flats forfeited to the State, pending determination of an appeal in Court of Appeal.
But Court of Appeal Judge Mwinde Siavwapa dismissed Mrs Lungu’s application for stay and noted that it may delay determination of the main matter before the courts of law…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
