Tourism on rebound

ZAMBIA has recovered about 88 percent of pre-COVID visitors and targets to increase the number of visitors to two million by close of the year, from 1.3 million last year.
This is supported by various interventions by Government, such as tourism infrastructure development, policy reforms and enhanced marketing.
Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba said this yesterday at the 2024 travel, hospitality and tourism education summit, which is running from April 15 to 17, under the theme ‘Human capital gap in Africa’s tourism industry: Aligning learning to industry development in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) era’.
“The summit is poised to address the big problems faced by the sector over a period of time. We know where we are coming from, the pre-COVID times the numbers were not pretty and the industry was hit hard, borders were shut and airlines were grounded.
