ZAMBIA Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) has given approval to Margam Valley Solar (MVS) Energy Corporation Limited to proceed with the development of its 400 megawatts (MW) of solar power plants in Kalulushi district that will cost over US$650 million.
It is estimated that the project will initially start with 200MW and will be fully constructed over a three-to-five-year implementation period.
In an interview last Friday, Margam director Akapelwa Akapelwa said development has paved the way to proceed in undertaking preliminary works of the project that will be initiated with civil works at both the power plant and transmission line sites at an initial estimated cost of US$30 million and would be undertaken
