Trial to go ahead in Yamba case if advocates abscond next sitting

LUSAKA chief resident magistrate Davies Chibwili has warned that he will proceed into trial in the absence of some lawyers in the case involving Fredson Yamba and others if the advocates abscond the next sitting.
“I ask that counsels make themselves available or I will proceed without them,” magistrate Chibwili said yesterday before adjourning the case to a later date.
The adjudicator reminded the parties that the Economic and Financial Crimes Court is supposed to hear cases within the legally prescribed time frame.
“This is a fast-track court, we need to proceed, otherwise we have to deal with this case three weeks continuous,” the magistrate said.
This is in a case Mr Yamba and four others are accused of wilful failure to follow procedure in relation to the construction of FTJ University…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
