UNITED Nations (UN) has hailed the Zambian government for devising well-coordinated efforts in cushioning the adverse effects of the drought on citizens.
And Vice-President Mutale Nalumango has stressed the need for citizens living in low-lying areas to remain alert and, where necessary, relocate to avoid being victims of effects of floods.
UN resident coordinator Beatrice Mutali said the international organisation is pleased with the enhanced coordination in addressing the drought emergency.
Ms Mutali noted the New Dawn administration’s proactive measures aimed at cushioning the adverse effects of drought on women, children, the aged and people with disabilities.
