ZAMBIAN golfer Madalitso Muthiya yesterday delivered a mixed performance in the third round at the Fortress Invitational Championship, closing with a one-over-par 73
at Glendover Golf Club in South Africa.
The second-round score marked a slight improvement from his second round, where he carded a two-over-par 74 and barely made the cut with a twounder-par 144, just two shots above the threshold.
In the third round, Muthiya carded four bogeys, a double bogey and five birdies, leaving him with an overall score of one-over-par 73 for the day and a three rounds score of one under par 215.
The Zambian had a promising start to the tournament, posting an impressive four-under-par 68 in the opening round.
However, his fortunes dipped on the second day as he faltered with four bogeys, a double bogey and only four birdies and despite his best efforts to regain control of his game, his struggle with consistency continued to keep him from challenging for the title.
With the title seemingly out of reach, Muthiya’s focus has shifted towards finishing strong in today’s final round, aiming for a respectable position on the
leaderboard.
Meanwhile, South African golfer Daniel van Tonder led the field with an impressive 14-under-par 202.
He was followed closely by Joban Rebula, who trailed by just one stroke, while Robin Williams was two shots behind in third place.
Zambian compatriot Dayne Moore, unfortunately, failed to make the cut after posting a combined score of four-over-par 148 over two rounds, missing the cut by four strokes…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/
