MINISTER of Health Elijah Muchima says he will not allow political party cadres to influence tenders or get involved in the operations of the ministry like it used to be in the past.
Responding to questions after giving an update on the state of preparedness, prevention and response for cholera on Wednesday, Dr Muchima said the UPND will not entertain cadreism in the operations of government affairs because that is what caused the PF to be voted out of power.
Dr Muchima further dismissed assertions that he had been “captured” by some technocrats within the ministry.
“Some people think they can get tenders to supply goods and services through my office, but it will not happen,” he said.
“Others think they can take advantage of me assuming that I am a new person in the ministry, but I am not new in Government.
“I have been a civil servant for many years, so all cases of corruption will be investigated and acted upon. My interest on having knowledge of procurement processes is to ensure fairness and equality.”
And UPND chairperson of the health committee Bob Sakahilu said the ruling party only wants to see the Ministry of Health thriving and executing its mandate.
“We shall never come to disturb your work,” he said….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/
