Visiting minister of state for external affairs, environment and climate change Shri Singh says this is in view of the energy crisis that has hit Zambia due to the unprecedented drought.
Speaking during the opening of the sixth session of the Zambia-India Joint Permanent Commission in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Singh also announced that the 2,500 metric tons (mt) of maize that India gave Zambia on humanitarian grounds following crop failure has arrived in the country.
The fifth session of the meeting was hosted in New Delhi in 2005.
He said India is also working on the proposal of gifting 100 solar-powered irrigation pumps in Zambia and 500 embroidery machines to support the empowerment of women.
