JUST like in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifying race, Zambia last night finished ahead of Ivory Coast after convincingly beating Sierra Leone at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.
In qualifying for the 2023 edition, Zambia finished top of Group H with 13 points, level with second-placed Ivory Coast but the former had a better goal aggregate.
Last night, Zambia topped Group G with 13 points, one better than Ivory Coast, who butchered Chad 4-0 in Abidjan.
Sierra Leone, in third position, managed five points while tail-enders Chad have three.
Second-half goals from midfielder Emmanuel Banda and striker Kennedy Musonda earned Chipolopolo the fourth win in the qualifiers.
