THE Ministry of Tourism says most elephant attacks on humans are caused by lack of precaution and disregard of stipulated park rules.
The ministry’s public relations officer, Natalie Mashikolo, said in a statement yesterday that the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) has noticed with dismay the significant increase in incidents of human-wildlife conflict involving elephants, resulting in fatalities or serious injuries.
In the last four days, DNPW recorded four fatalities caused by elephants due to what Ms Mashikolo says is personal negligence and non-adherence to park rules and regulations by individuals.
