FORMER international striker Simon Kaodi Kaushi on Tuesday shed tears as his wife Jane Tembo narrated how he is struggling financially.
Kaushi was part of the national team that won silver at the 1974 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Zambia, coached by Ante Buselic, lost 2-0 to then Zaire (now Democratic Republic of Congo) in a replay after the first match ended 2-2.
Tembo on Tuesday told Zambia Sports Fans Association patron Peter Makembo, who is also Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) life member, that Kaushi needs help.
“Ba Simon played for the country for a long time but now that he is in need, no one remembers him. Had it not been for his children to assist from time to time, I don’t know what would have happened to him,” she said.
