ZAMBIANS travelling to and exiting South Africa should comply with immigration procedures to avoid being inconvenienced by authorities in that country, Zambia’s acting High Commissioner to South Africa Inonge Mwenya has said.
Ms Mwenya said the mission is in receipt of concerns from numerous travellers who are unable to present the required documentation upon exiting South Africa.
This is contained in a statement by first secretary for press and public relations at the Zambian High Commission in Pretoria, Tamara Nyirenda.
She said it is regrettable to see some Zambians being found without documents like work permits, while others have overstayed for various reasons.
Ms Mwenya said the Zambian High Commission is cognisant that some individuals may be facing challenges in navigating the immigration landscape.
“If you are facing difficulties or uncertainties, please seek assistance from official channels through the mission in Pretoria.
“Let us work together to build a positive image of our community and contribute to the rich diversity that South Africa offers. By following immigration regulations, we are not only protecting ourselves but also honour our Zambian heritage and values we hold dearly,” Ms Mwenya said.
