Miles Sampa goes to court over PF office-bearers

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) faction president Miles Sampa has gone to court seeking a greenlight to challenge the chief registrar of societies’ decision to allegedly amend the list of office-bearers for the former ruling party.
Mr Sampa, the Matero law-maker, is seeking an order of certiorari to quash the impugned registrar’s decision to amend the list of PF office-bearers.
He is also seeking an order of prohibition, restraining the registrar from implementing or enforcing the amendments to the list of office-bearers allegedly made in contravention of the law.
Mr Sampa wants a declaration that the registrar’s decision to amend the list of PF office-bearers is against the Societies Act and, therefore, null and void and, therefore, should be halted.
He also wants an order directing the registrar to revert to the legitimate list of office-bearers of the PF party as it stood prior to the impugned decision.
The applicant also wants damages for misfeasance in public office (when an office-holder has abused their power).
In the lawsuit, Mr Sampa has cited the chief registrar of societies and attorney-general as respondents in documents in which he seeks for leave to apply for judicial review.
He submitted that he was duly elected PF president on October 24, 2023.
