NKANA 1 EAGLES 0
COACH Mwenya Chipepo yesterday breathed a sigh of relief as fourth-placed Nkana kept their title ambitions alive with victory against 10-man Green Eagles, whose winless streak reached six.
“It wasn’t an easy game even though we were playing at home. Of course the supporters came in numbers but what was important was to get the three points,” Chipepo said in a post-match interview.
“Every team we are playing against are coming prepared. I was telling the players that we are now in problems because every team will come prepared.”
Eagles coach Kebby Hachipuka described the defeat as painful.
“It is a painful defeat as usual.
It is worrying that we have gone six games without a win. But the boys are putting in their best. We were unlucky today, the boys tried but could not just put the ball in the net. We are going through a bad phase but I am sure it will be over soon.
It is not their fault that they are not scoring because they are doing everything they can, but football is like that when you are going through a bad phase,” Hachipuka said.
Defender Clement Mwape scored the only goal in the 43rd minute to separate the sides and send Nkana to 40 points.
