Fredrick Chitangala, the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) Zambia Sports Development Centre, has been appointed Executive Director of Chreso Ministries, a Zambian not-for-profit Faith Based Organisation whose mission and purpose is to respond to the health and development needs of the people of Zambia.
Dr Chitangala replaces the founder Reverend Helmut Reutter, who has been at the helm since 1996, when the institution was founded.
Dr. Chitangala will be in charge of health programs, education, and community services.
He was Director of Programmes at Chreso between 2000 and 2015 when he left but was immediately appointed onto the board, which he has been part of until now.
Upon leaving Chreso, he was employed by Society for Family Health as Director of Communication and Marketing.
He later left to serve as Executive Director (National General Secretary) of Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Zambia, the position he held for barely a year.
In April 2018, be became CEO of the OYDC Zambia Sports Development Center (formerly Olympic Youth Development Centre until March last year.
Dr Chitangala rejoins Chreso as an employee with vast relevant experience in governance, strategic management, business development, and stakeholder engagement. He has multiple graduate and post graduate qualifications.
Dr Chitangala has been tasked to steer the institution using the new strategic plan (2025-2029) into its new vision focused on innovation and sustainability.
Chreso Ministries has evolved from a health services organisation to an all-rounded development organisation that applies a holistic family centered human developmental approaches to respond to deliver impactful outcomes to the people of Zambia.
The three focus areas for Chreso Ministries are: Health Service Programmes – applying public health principles to respond to family, and individual level health challenges, education and skills building – in partnership with the Ministry of Education/Higher Education, technical education, vocational and entrepreneurship training and the community.
Chreso has enhanced employability of young Zambians by availing much needed courses to community members.
Orphan care and livelihoods support, working with communities to support vulnerable and orphaned children with education and accommodation while enhancing transferring skills to communities with a view to enhancing food security and sustainability.
