FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) and National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) have agreed to hold the elective annual general meeting (AGM) on April 20 after the Lusaka High Court discharged the injunction.
And FAZ presidential candidate Keith Mweemba says the injunction was regrettable as it delayed his coronation as FAZ president.
After the cancellation of Saturday’s AGM that was scheduled for Fairmount Hotel in the tourist capital, frantic efforts were made by Government and some presidential candidates to have the injunction lifted.
Damiano Academy secretary Humphrey Musonda filed an injunction on Friday.
On Saturday afternoon, Lusaka High Court Judge Geoffrey Mulenga ruled in chambers that the elective AGM could proceed.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu held a meeting with FAZ and all presidential candidates except Andrew Kamanga at Avani Hotel and all parties unanimously agreed to hold elections after 21 days, which is April 20.
The meeting was also attended by Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Chama Fumba, acting director of sport Gibson Muyaule, NSCZ chief executive officer Sombwa Musunsa, FAZ general secretary Reuben Kamanga and electoral committee chairperson Ronald Hatoongo.
They agreed to move the venue to Lusaka and that FAZ should release the electoral college to all candidates and councillors.NSCZ will assist with costs for holding the AGM.
It was also agreed that Northern and North-Western provinces elections should be held in the next two weeks for positions whose elections were not held…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
