THE upward adjustment in toll gate fees for heavy vehicles will help enhance maintenance and upgrade of road infrastructure countrywide, Government has said.
Tariffs for heavy goods and abnormal load vehicles have been increased from K150 to K250 and K500 to K800, respectively, effective yesterday.
Pricing for small vehicles, light trucks and buses remains unchanged.
Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Charles Milupi said this in a statement that the new tariffs for heavy vehicles will facilitate for rehabilitation of major districts, townships and feeder roads to ease movement of people and enhance trade.
The minister said toll gate fees remained unchanged since January 2017, when Statutory Instrument number 85 of 2016 was effected.
