IN THE last 24 hours, 405 individuals have been discharged nationwide from cholera centres, which Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says signifies improvements in the interventions being implemented.
Ms Masebo said during a media briefing yesterday that progress is being made in patient outcomes in spite of challenges.
She said 295 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours with Lusaka, as usual, accounting for the largest number at 216.Copperbelt had 12, Central 38, Southern 24, Eastern Province 4, Eastern and North-Western 1.
“Lusaka district remains at the forefront of this outbreak as the epicentre, reporting 171 cases in the past 24 hours out of the 216 cases,” she said.
Kanyama had 49 cases, Matero 39, Munali 31, Chawama 22, Mandevu 18, Lusaka Central four, while Chilanga district reported 35, with Rufunsa four and both Chongwe and Kafue three.
“Our largest treatment centre at National Heroes Stadium is actively managing 256 patients, out of which 95 are male, 85 are female and 76 are children,” Ms Masebo said.
She said 109 were admitted to the facility within the last 24 hours while 146 were discharged, with 13 referred to Levy treatment centre.
