Shaft 28 preps begin!

AFTER the recent developments at Konkola Copper Mines and Mopani, which should help revitalise towns such as Chingola, Kitwe, Chililabombwe and Mufulira, Luanshya is next on the agenda.
Trial runs to de-water the flooded Shaft 28 at CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines (CLM) Plc have commenced in readiness for the official commissioning of the exercise to drain water and start mining operations.
The process of mine de-watering can be achieved by pumping continuously from a series of de-watering wells around the mine and by installing pumps in special sumps [areas of the mine where water collects] on the mine floor to remove surface water.
