Over 1,000 Southern youth to get grants

ABOUT 1,120 vulnerable youth in Southern Province will be empowered with grants ranging between K500 to K5,000 in a bid to alleviate poverty among young people in the province.
And another 120 youth in the province will be empowered with motorcycles.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu said about 2,148 youth drawn from all the 10 provinces of the country were in 2022 empowered with grants.
He said in 2023, a total number of about 3,290 young people were empowered in three provinces with grants. He named the provinces as Luapula, Northern and North-Western.
“It may interest you to know that in the 2022 financial year, the ministry empowered a total number of 2,148 youths drawn from all the 10 provinces of the country with grants. In 2023, a total number of 3,290 young people were empowered in three provinces with grants in Luapula, Northern and North-Western,” he said.
