POLICY makers, climate change advocates, experts and entrepreneurs should address the effects of floods, drought and cyclones in southern Africa through investment in renewable energy.

Experts at the on-going 30th Meeting of Intergovernmental Committee of Senior Officials and Experts (ICSOE) of Southern Africa taking place in Livingstone are looking at how to help Zambia and neighbouring countries address the energy deficit.

The meeting is being hosted by the Economic Commission for Southern Africa (ECA) sub-regional office for Southern Africa (SRO-SA) and the Zambian Government from November 20 to 21 under the theme: ‘Addressing the energy deficit in Southern Africa through investments in new and renewable energy technologies to reduce energy poverty and accelerate sustainable industrialisation and structural transformation’.
