USAID has availed a grant of US$2.2 million for the Choova Njinga Innovation challenge aimed at developing costeffective bicycle solutions in rural areas of Zambia and Malawi.
USAID Zambia nutrition advisor Helen Khungwa Chira says the Bicycle Innovation Programme (BIP) aims to tackle development challenges in sub-Saharan Africa through the increased adoption of bicycles.
“The BIP aims to achieve this by incentivising the development and scaling of innovative solutions relating to bicycles within an open innovation programme structure,” she said.
